Penmark Privacy Policy

Effective date: April 26, 2026

This plain-English MVP policy explains how Penmark handles information in the demo. It is not legal advice.

MVP draft: do not use real student data without school approval. Use anonymized samples for demos whenever possible.

What Penmark Is

Penmark is an MVP writing-consistency review tool for teachers and authorized school adults. It compares prior writing samples with a new submission and provides a decision-support report.

Penmark is not intended for direct child use. Teachers and schools are responsible for deciding whether they have the right authorization, notice, and internal approval to enter student information.

Information You May Enter

The demo may ask for student names, prior writing samples, new submissions, feedback, and an optional email address if you choose to provide one.

Writing samples and submissions may include personal information if you paste it into the tool. Use only the information you are authorized to use.

Demo Storage And Local Data

The demo may store entered information in your browser using localStorage or similar demo storage so the page can keep its state while you use it.

This local demo data is stored on the device and browser you use. Other people with access to that device or browser profile may be able to see it.

Clear Demo Data

Use the demo's clear or delete controls to remove local demo data from your browser. You can also clear site data through your browser settings.

Clearing local data removes demo state from that browser. It does not remove copies you saved elsewhere or information already shared outside the demo.

Private Summary Processing

By default, Penmark does not send submissions to external paid generation services. The MVP is designed around local writing-pattern comparison unless a deployment is changed by its operator.

If an optional private summary is enabled, it only explains the existing report. It does not create the score, change the metric table, or make final judgments.

How Results Should Be Used

Penmark is not a final disciplinary system. It does not prove misconduct, plagiarism, or how a piece was produced.

Reports should be reviewed by a teacher or responsible adult, considered alongside context, and used only as one input before any conversation or decision.

Safeguards

We use reasonable safeguards appropriate for an MVP demo, but no system, browser storage method, or networked service is perfect.

Do not enter sensitive information unless you are authorized and comfortable using it in this kind of tool.

No Legal Advice

This policy is a plain-English MVP draft and is not legal advice. Consult qualified counsel before production use, school deployment, or processing student records at scale.
